YPOMCCI Mentorship Program Hosts Inspiring Session with NWTL Leave a comment

The Young Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce & Industry (YPOMCCI) hosted an engaging mentorship event last Friday, featuring NWTL Group’s Chief Operating Officer, Gavin Thompson, as the guest speaker. The session provided young professionals with valuable insights into leadership, career growth, and the importance of mentorship.

Joining Mr. Thompson were NWTL Group General Manager Retail, Amy Tomlinson, and several young NWTL employees enrolled in the YPOMCCI mentorship program.

During his talk, Mr. Thompson shared his career journey from his early years at Coles and Bunnings to his decision to relocate to Papua New Guinea. He detailed his progression within Brian Bell Group as Supply Chain Manager before transitioning to NWTL as Group COO in July 2023. His key message to attendees was to “be the leader you always wanted to have” while emphasizing patience and deliberate growth in one’s career.

The event drew young professionals from diverse industries, who listened intently and participated in discussions on professional development.

The evening concluded with a special presentation of a K7,500 cheque raised from the auction of a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphone during the Fone Haus Samsung Galaxy S25 Series launch. The auction purchase proudly made by Dhawal Patel, Managing Director of Ela Builders & Contractors.
